The soft opening was led by Baguio Congressman Bernardo M. Vergara and Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan. Vergara was responsible for sourcing funds for the rehabilitation and facelift of the Rose Garden from the Department of Tourism.
Thursday evening, a small crowd of Vergara and Domogan supporters, media and general public witnessed the opening of the Dancing Fountain, the interactive Children s Fountain and the Senior Citizens Pool.
Inasikaso natin ang Burnham Park na siyang ating pinakakilalang tourist attraction. Inilawan natin ang Burnham arbor ng maliwanag sa gabi at na-upgrade rin ang Rose Garden into a beautiful promenade park. Ngayon ay may peace of mind nang nakapapasyal dun sa gabi ang ating mga kababayan at bisita, Vergara pointed out.
Vergara announced the Dancing Fountain at Burnham Lake will also be finished which will add to the attractions of the city s premier park. Baguio s other parks also received funding assistance for the upkeep or rehabilitation, Vergara added.

Every nook and cranny of the city has been lighted up to beautify and assure safety, not just for tourists, but for local residents as well. Sadly, however, most of these lighting fixtures were neglected and not maintained during the years I was not seated in public office, Vergara lamented. ABN
